- Select Grade: Birch grows principally in the Northeast and Lake States, also along the Appalachians and in Northern Georgia. Tight even grain produces a very formal elegant look. Birch has a white sapwood and light reddish brown heartwood. It is heavy, hard, and strong, and it has good shock resisting quality. It is used primarily in flooring, furniture, wooden ware, cooperage, interior woodwork, doors, furniture, paneling, cabinets, and veneer.
- Country Grade: For an antique country look character grade, with a variety of knots and defects, can be enhanced even more by skip planning and distressing the wood on site. Undesirable defects can also be removed on the job site.
